The Week Before Christmas; And a Plan Reveal

Twas the week before Christmas, and all through our gaff,
Was strewn parts of our bathroom; a bath tap, a bath.

Christmas 2017

The tiling’s been finished and grouted, with care,
In the hope that a shower screen soon would hang there.

The toilet’s been fitted and plumbed to the mains,
While full flush (or half flush) now runs down the drains.

Yet dressed in our PJ’s, awake through the night,
We still run down the stairs just to go for a… tinkle.

Christmas 2017

When from downstairs there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Out of the bedroom I flew far too fast,
Tripping over the carpet, the bath tap, the bath.

The moon in the window, of the hallway below,
Lit a vision of Brian, who’d just stubbed his toe.
The shower screen (unbroken) lay flat on the floor,
The mess is so bad, WE CAN’T TAKE ANY MORE.

To cut short this story, the house is a mess,
The bathroom (unfinished) is causing much stress.
But I’ve drawn up a plan, so please, do not worry!
Just, don’t think that we’ll get to this stage in a hurry!

If you like what you see, then please, let me know,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a ‘HO HO’.

Bathroom Plan

Merry Christmas  everyone,

Much love, Malcolm (and Brian!) xx

  1. This entire post is adorable—the poem and the story it tells, your Christmas decorations, and I want that tub. I vascillate between wanting one with whirlpool in it and thinking that is too kitchy.

  2. Hello Malcom love ,love your home it’s so within reach for our Canadian heritage age brick farm house ,your helping preserve our heritage and keep it current and affordable thank you 💋

Firstly, congrats on the Amara award (you got my vote!).
Will you share details on the stunning wall feather?
Have the previous owners of your house seen your fabulous transformations?

PS. Waiting breathlessly for bathroom reveal 🙂

    1. Hi Libby, Thank you so much for your lovely message. I do hope you had a great festive season. And thank you VERY much for your vote! That means a lot.
The giant feather was from https://www.outthereinteriors.com It is huge!! Still looking to find it’s final hanging place.
Unfortunately, the previous owner is in an nursing home, and her husband passed away prior to moving, so we haven’t been in contact.

  5. OH Malcolm,

Your home is just so lovely. It made me smile on this cloudy day over here in Virginia! I cannot wait to see the bathroom. What kind of flooring are you using to create that herringbone design?

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

    1. Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. I hope you had a great festive season. you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for the big bathroom reveal. The floor is wood effect tile… not something we were ever keen on, until we saw this one! Love it!!
